According to history, It was built in the late Ayutthaya. At that time, most of the people in Ban Muang Community and who live near Mae Klong River have Mon descent live with Thai, Chinese, Laotian, Vietnamese, Khmer, or Karen. There are cultural exchanges between each other, causing a unique culture of the local people, it makes this community is a great place for research about Mon. This museum has exhibitions that combine many things about Mon. There are history, legend, lifestyle, language, antiquities, palm leaf scriptures written in Mon characters which are over 300 years old, clothing, tradition, and culture from the past to the present. The museum also shows the importance of the Mae Klong River Basin. Besides, there is a Mon Education Center inside the temple.
